If you’ve yet to get into the festive spirit then John Legend is on hand to change that with the release of the deluxe edition of his A Legendary Christmas album.
Unveiled on Friday, the mammoth 18-track album includes four new original recordings of holiday classics including ‘This Christmas’, ‘My Favorite Things’ and ‘Christmas in New Orleans.’
The highlight, however, is a reimagined version of ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ featuring vocal powerhouse Kelly Clarkson. The track features new lyrics written by John and Natasha Rothwell, and offers a modern take which removes the notoriously controversial elements from the classic holiday song.
Speaking about his Christmas album, John said: “I’ve loved holiday music since I was a kid in Ohio singing with my family every Christmas around my grandmother’s piano. We had so much fun recording, releasing and touring A Legendary Christmas last year. Now we get to make it even Legendary-er with 4 brand new tracks on the Deluxe Edition.
“I’m particularly excited about the new version of “Baby It’s Cold Outside” featuring my friend Kelly Clarkson. I co-wrote a fun reimagined version of the lyrics with Natasha Rothwell, and we can’t wait for everyone to hear it. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it.”
