College football spring practice live updates: Biggest questions, latest roster, depth chart and tea

The Georgia defense got the better of its offense in the second spring scrimmage, per the reports from those who saw it, and that shouldn’t be a surprise. The offense has fewer returning starters, has a new coordinator and will have a new quarterback, once the coaches figure out who that is.

There’s so much up in the air, in fact, that when Kirby Smart was asked Saturday about what the “personality” of the offense would be, he shrugged it off. Partly because he doesn’t tend to put much pressure on finding an identity in the spring anyway. But also partly because the coaches don’t know exactly which players will be featured.

“Offensive personality is what you have. You use what you have. And right now it’s not like we’re saying, ‘Let’s cater our offense to Brock (Bowers), Ladd (McConkey), Kendall (Milton),’ who’s not out there. We’re not doing that,” Smart said. “We’re evaluating players, not plays. We’re trying to figure out what players can help us, and then we’ll worry about the plays.”
